
Lane End Oasis Centre
The Lane End Oasis Centre is a Youth & Adult skills program, presenting informal training in car mechanics, plumbing, electrical skills, painting & decorating, garden maintenance and numeracy & literacy. The target groups are 16-50 year olds with the intention of providing guidance and mentoring into trade and creative industries.
The programs are over 14 week periods consisting of a weekly two hour session of both theory and practical application. The learning projects and programs will also help the youth through motivating and inspiring the development of their self esteem, confidence and life skills, all of which forms the premise for better community integration and social skills.
Aims and objectives
In broad terms, the Centre aims to:
- create accessible and responsive community learning support provision
- provide a flexible framework and depth required to support the development needs of disadvantaged youth and underprivileged families
- support the local learning programme structure that acts as a gateway to employment
- deliver mentoring and life-skills support and add value to Buckinghamshire County Council Educational strategy and learning partnership network.
Workshop & Events
The programme will focus on creating a contemporary programme of activities, which inspire and mentor individuals into a career path and provide practical skills for life through a development framework that would help them to do the following:
· Create a foundation of developing self esteem
· Achieve confidence through skills for life
· Motivate and support youth into training, education and provide career options

- Plumbing
- Mechanics
- Painting & Decorating
- Garden Maintenance
- Numeracy & Literacy
Program Content
Work with disadvantaged youth from deprived backgrounds over a period of 14 weeks using a flexible training provision and mentoring.
The structure of the programme is flexible enough to:
- Offer a menu of dynamic options to capture interest
- Each student will be assigned a supervising mentor/coach to review and assess the career position and help the student to create a forward plan
